About Irina Biatturi
Irina Biatturi is a French-Romanian painter based in Antibes, on the Côte d'Azur. Her Art Deco-inspired oil paintings of women and the French Riviera won the President's Prize at the Florence Biennale 2023 and Best European Artist at World Art Dubai 2024. They have been shown at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris and the Musée Masséna in Nice, and appear on book covers for Penguin Random House and Piper. Signed canvas prints and posters of her paintings are available at Biatturi Art Prints.
She paints women in the light of the Côte d'Azur. Born in Romania, she trained at the Nicolae Grigorescu Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest and lived in Mexico and New Zealand before settling in Antibes more than twenty years ago. The Mediterranean light runs through her work: the blues of sea and sky, the white of a summer dress, a terrace at noon.
Her paintings are oil on canvas, in a style shaped by Art Deco and Art Nouveau — elegant women, vintage bathing suits and hats, the Riviera of the 1920s seen from today. Every painting is made by hand in her studio in Antibes.
